Dr. Tremble’s Electrical Experiment

Iowa State Ride Design Competition

 November 2020 – April 2021

Beginning from the brainstorming stage all the way to the full operations day, my first year participating in the Iowa State Ride Design Competition with “Dr. Tremble’s Electrical Experiment” allowed me to experience the engineering design process in the form of a fully functioning model steam-punk Farris wheel and drop tower hybrid. Being on the electrical, safety, design, and mechanical team taught me systems controls with Arduino, new SolidWorks skills, fabrication techniques, how to perform risk analysis, and valuable communication skills. Dr. Tremble operated for eight consecutive hours and had to comply to all ASTM standards.
