Pieces of Home:

The Puzzle of Me

Asked to create a self-portrait without including the self, I decided to make myself a buzzle. Each piece is unique and painted with gold, but still makes up one whole; Texas. My home. Just like this puzzle, even when away from the “base” it still fits to be in the form of the state. Just like how even when I am away from home, it is Texas and my home that made me who I am. The puzzle looks incorrect when placed a different way. This is becuase every piece, skill, and life lesson I learned made me who am I am today.

With lines created in Illustrator, this wooden piece was laser cut, stained, and each piece was individually hand painted.

Locked Out of College

When asked to create a physical representation of a modern struggle, 3 students decided to represent the seemingly impossible task of college imitations process. With a limitation of only wire, the pearly gates of college turn into barbwire sealed by a gold lock with hundreds of keys laid before you. You will need both patience, luck, and privilege to get the paper behind the gate.
